Delete Your Account or Data
The short version: you can delete a child's profile directly in the app. You can also delete your own adult account from Household Settings in the app. If you need help deleting an entire household or requesting deletion by email, contact [email protected]. See the details below for exactly what's deleted and how long it takes.
Deleting a child's profile (in the app)
An Account Holder can delete a child's profile at any time, directly in the Rooted Family Chores app:
- Open the app and go to the child's profile (Settings → the child you want to remove, or Edit Child from the household roster).
- Choose Delete Child.
- Confirm the deletion.
This permanently removes that child's profile, including their nickname, avatar selection, birth year (if provided), points/XP balances, chore history, wishlist items, and goals, from our active systems.
Deleting your own adult account
An adult account holder can delete their own Rooted account directly in the Rooted Family Chores app:
- Open the app and go to Household Settings.
- Open Account deletion.
- Confirm that you understand deletion cannot be undone.
- If you own a household and want to delete that household too, explicitly choose the option to also delete households you own.
- Choose Delete My Account.
Deleting your adult account removes your profile, sign-in, parent PIN, household memberships, and weekly summary preferences. If you belong to a household someone else owns, your account is removed from that household without deleting the household. If you own a household, the app only deletes that household when you explicitly confirm that choice.
Deleting an entire household by request
If you need help deleting an entire household, or if you cannot access the app, email us and we'll handle the request for you:
- Email [email protected] from the email address associated with your account.
- Tell us what you'd like deleted — your entire household, your own adult account, or removal from a household someone else owns.
- We'll verify the request and confirm back to you once it's processed.
We aim to complete deletion requests within 30 days of verifying the request.
What gets deleted
Deleting a household removes the household record and everything under it — members, child profiles, chores, chore history, points/XP transactions, rewards, wishlist items, and goals — from our active systems.
We may retain limited information after deletion where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes (for example, records needed to enforce our Terms of Service), and residual copies may briefly persist in encrypted backups before being permanently purged. See Data Retention in our Privacy Policy for more detail.
